Lil City Leaders: From High School to High Impact

by Leo C.

Eighteen weeks in a row—without missing once—we’ve been publishing Lil City. In that time, I’ve learned a ton. Not just about writing or sharing local news, but about leadership, consistency, and the impact a project like this can have on a community.

That’s why I’m excited to take what we’ve built here and expand it into something bigger: Lil City Leaders.

Lil City Leaders gives teens the chance to launch their own Lil City in their school or town. They’ll cover local news, highlight nonprofits, talk to leaders, and even give classmates a platform to share their voices. It’s the same mission you already know from Lil City, but on a wider scale—helping more students grow as leaders and make an impact.

This isn’t just about writing newsletters. It’s about building real skills—communication, design, outreach, teamwork—and using them to create something that lasts. Students can start small, then grow into leading projects, running teams, and earning volunteer hours along the way. The impact potential is huge: stronger communities, more connected students, and proof that youth voices matter.

We’ve seen firsthand how much a local project can do. Now it’s time to share that opportunity with other teens—here in El Dorado Hills and beyond.

If you know a teen, even an 8th grader, who wants to step up, learn, and make a difference, please share Lil City Leaders with them. This could be the spark that starts their own journey of impact.
