When Monday Feels Heavy: Finding the Reset Button 👆

by Leo C.

We all know that shift when Sunday night rolls around. Maybe it's the homework pile waiting on the desk, the alarm clock set way too early, or just the thought of another week of shifts and routines. That sinking feeling, the classic "Monday Blues" hits students and workers alike. It's like the freedom of the weekend slams right into a wall of responsibilities, alarms, and to-do lists. For some, it's the dread of a tough class or a demanding boss; for others, it's just the sheer weight of starting over again. It’s a shared experience, that mental reset button we didn't exactly press with enthusiasm.

It’s easy to feel alone in that slump, staring at the ceiling Sunday night or hitting snooze one too many times Monday morning. But seeing it as just a normal part of the cycle, something almost everyone faces, can take some of the pressure off. It’s not about being lazy; it’s about the transition. Recognizing that shared feeling, whether you’re heading back to school or clocking in for work, connects us. Like noticing someone having a rough day and offering a simple nod of understanding.

The good thing about Mondays? They pass. And sometimes, the smallest things can ease the weight: that first good cup of coffee, a quick chat with a friend between classes, a favorite playlist on the commute, or even just knowing others feel it too. It’s about finding that little spark to push through the reset and into the week. We might not always beat the blues completely, but we can definitely help each other carry them a little lighter. 💛
