A recent decision from the U.S. Department of Education is set to change the financial landscape for graduate students, particularly those pursuing advanced nursing degrees. By redefining what qualifies as a "professional degree," the department has excluded nursing, meaning future students will face stricter limits on federal loans.

This change comes as part of a broader update to student loan policies. The American Nurses Association has voiced strong concern, stating that limiting funding for nursing education threatens patient care at a time when the healthcare system is already facing a historic shortage.
